Garden Studios
createmode
Whether you’re a creative professional, artist, youtuber, podcaster, musician, silversmith or DJ - we can bring your dream garden room to fruition, creating a space purpose-built for you.
video & podcasting
Controlling natural light, soundproofing, and sound deadening are going to be high priorities if you’re doing any type of media recording. A general purpose garden room is not likely to be designed with these factors in mind. You need to be able to keep outside noise out, moderate the acoustics inside, and also ventilate or heat the space as required. You may want green screens / backdrops and other room dressing, robust electrics for lighting, uninterruptible power supplies and other tech.
music & audio
The design of the perfect room will depend completely on how you expect to use it. The needs of a concert pianist are very different from those of a drummer, for example.
Cable management is key. Getting all your cabling requirements hidden in the wall and future proofing this will be important. Whether it be a multicore for multi channel mixing, or floor traps to plug in your guitar amp, careful planning is a must.
Reference speakers can be grounded to avoid any resonance and some gentle angles on the interior of your room will help reduce acoustic feedback. A separate vocal booth may be worth considering.
Multiple layers of acoustic material will be required to ensure broadcast quality recording - acoustic plasterboard alone just won’t cut it. The ceiling and floor will need to receive this treatment as well. Minimising windows and fitting a single soundproof door will reduce sound leakage.
workshop & Artist spaces
If you could set up the perfect space to paint, draw, sculpt, sew, throw or bead what would you need? Bench space for machines and equipment, the right natural light - a skylight above your easel space for example. Perhaps you’re a photographer who needs blackout capability. You’ll want to consider comfortable access to tools and supplies. Will you need water, cleanable surfaces, fume extraction or humidity control? How about specialist flooring that’s quick to clean, or to spot dropped parts against?
If you teach your skills to others, you may need a workspace where students can sit side-by-side. The requirements are wide and varied, but the aim is always the same - to create the perfect studio where you can do your best work.
consulting rooms & salons
Dreaming of the perfect space for seeing clients, separate from your home and kitted out with everything you need to run a thriving small business? Garden studios are perfect for consultants offering services such as hairdressing, massage therapy, beauty treatments and tattooing.
Therapists and consultants might need private spaces where customers can feel at ease - the atmosphere created with materials, lighting and sound proofing will contribute to the all round feeling of comfort and wellbeing. Blinds in glass will give you the ability to screen off the room when necessary and to flood light into the room at other times.
Will you need a separate room for customers to change or small shower room? You’ll need to consider mobility access and access to the room from the house. We’ll talk through all these considerations at the design stage to make sure we deliver a garden studio perfectly suited to you.
